NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025 (Aug 6–10, Kathmandu): For years, the NADA Auto Show stood as Nepal’s only major auto event—but that changed in 2025. NAIMA, a new industry organization, made its debut with the Nepal Mobility Expo 2025, a dynamic new addition to the country’s automotive calendar. The expo featured over 48 leading auto brands and promises a fresh take on how mobility is showcased in Nepal.

NADA Auto Show 2025:  The 17th edition drew a record 176,789 visitors, making it the largest in the event’s history and highlighting Nepal’s rising automotive enthusiasm. The show also featured the Deepal eVTOL flying taxi, Nepal’s first flying taxi showcase, providing a glimpse into the future of urban mobility.

The EV Price War

Nepal’s EV market heated up in 2025 as manufacturers slashed prices and offered exclusive deals. Competition was fiercest in the Rs 50–70 lakh segment, particularly for premium SUVs and crossovers: This price war drove better features, faster charging, and smarter technology, giving consumers more choice and value than ever before.

Local Milestones

Hyundai Nepal celebrated 10 years of the Creta, surpassing 10,000 owners with locally assembled vehicles. Deepal marked its first anniversary in Nepal with over 800 customers, while MAW Vriddhi achieved 1,000 Nammi EVs on the road in just 14 months, demonstrating the rapid adoption of electric mobility.

Challenges and Resilience

Not all news was positive. The Gen Z protests damaged showrooms and service centers, disrupting automotive businesses. Floods also halted trade at the Rasuwagadhi border, prompting alternative routes through Korala, which facilitated Nepal’s first batch of EV imports via Upper Mustang.

Despite these challenges, the industry’s resilience was evident. Businesses adapted, new trade channels opened, and consumer interest in EVs and mobility innovation remained strong.

Looking Ahead

2025 has set a high bar for Nepal’s automotive industry. Record-breaking auto shows, aggressive EV pricing, and innovative vehicles highlight a market evolving rapidly. And, as 2026 approaches, all eyes will be on how brands sustain momentum and navigate a competitive EV landscape.
